  • Information on marriages into the Washington family comes from Terrie Routh; these were descendents of James Hirum Kirkham Washington; Ella and Robert are found in the 1880 U.S. Census, Pontotoc, Mississippi, T9-0662, p. 62A.
  • Jacob Marion Biffle fought in the Civil War and carried a bullet in his leg for 40 years. When it worked out near the skin, son Tommy cut it out with his pocket knife. It was flat like a nickel. He enlisted in the CSA in June 1861, Waynesboro, Tenn., under Capt. Ashby, Co. G., First Tennessee Cavalry, Ashby's Brigade.
  • Jacob Marion lived between what is now Cook Memorial Baptist Church and Highway 32, Pontotoc County, Mississippi; he moved to Pontotoc County, January 1894.
  • His obituary states that he had a total of 13 children, 3 with Sarah Frances Tyler and 10 with Mary Rebecca McKannon (McCannon?); I show 4 children with Sarah France Tyler.
