Obituary of Jesse J. Biffle: Mr. J.J. Biffle, of Walnut Springs passed away in the Glen Rose Hospital on December 22, 1952 at the age of 83 years. Funeral services were held at the Prairie Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. F.E. Willer and Rev. Milton Baty officiating. Brister Funeral Home had charge of arrangements and interment in Prairie Valley Cemetery near Whitney. |

Mr. Biffle was born at Whitney, Texas March 10, 1869. He was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Sosebee on December 2, 1896. Mrs. Biffle passed away July 4, 1938. For the past 14 years he has made his home with his only daughter, Mrs. C. A. Dennis at Walnut Springs. He made his home in Bosque and Hill counties all of his life and operated the Ferry Boat on the Brazos between the two counties at Greenwade Crossing, for thirty years. He was known to all of his friends as "Uncle Jess" and his passing is a great loss to everyone that knew him. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. C. A. Dennis of Walnut Springs; three grandchildren, Elmer Dennis, Mrs. Edna Ingle and Mrs. Charline Meads of Fort Worth; two great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Williams of Whitney, Mrs. Georgia Walling of Hillsboro, and Mrs. Nollie Johnson of Colgate, Oklahoma. Pallbearers were: Cecil McFadden, John Higgins, Amos Offutt, Forrest Waldrop, Marshall Dameron, and Nobe Bennett. |
