  • From Confederate Soldiers and Patriots of Maury County Tennessee by Jill Garrett. J.J. Biffle (the I middle initial comes out as a J half the time--and of course in their handwriting, it often looked like a J) --Captain, Company A, 9th Tennessee Cavalry (under Jake Biffle). Died 24 Jan 1864 of pneumonia as prisoner of war; buried in grave 279, south of Prison Barracks.
