1. John Biffle, son of Johannes Adam Biffle and Catherine Henckel, was born in Rowan Co., North Carolina ca 1750. John died ca 1850 DeKalb Co., Georgia, at age unknown. His body was interred 1850, Macedonia Baptist Church, in Lithonia, DeKalb Co., Georgia. He married Sally Ingram. Sally was the daughter of William Ingram. Sally died ca 1880 Georgia, at age unknown. She is buried in the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery. He moved to DeKalb Co., Georgia from Buncombe Co., North Carolina, in 1822.

4. Leander A. Biffle (John) was born Buncombe Co., North Carolina November 28, 1812. Leander died December 18, 1880 DeKalb Co., Georgia, at age 68. He is buried at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Lithonia, DeKalb County, Georgia. He married Emelia Watkins September 25, 1836 DeKalb Co., Georgia. Leander and Emilia were married at a camp meeting held at Wesley Chapel in Rev. Elisha Byrd's tent. Elisha Byrd raised Emilia after the death of her parents. Emelia was born September 2, 1810 in Jackson, Georgia. Emelia was the daughter of Henry Watkins and Nancy Eakin. Emelia died July 16, 1892 DeKalb Co., Georgia, at age 81. She was buried at the Macedonia Baptist Church cemetery, Lithonia, DeKalb Co., Georgia. Her funeral was preached by Rev. J. W. Stipe.
He was appointed Commisioner of Roads for DeKalb Co. in 1844 and reappointed in 1846. He supervised the building of the Covington Highway from Decatur to Covington. Leander served as a justice of the peace in DeKalb County, Georgia, between 1848 and 1849. In 1879 he may have donated the land for Belmont United Methodist Church (this fact is in dispute). His family were members of the Methodist Church South. He and his wife also brought up four orphans.

He was in the Army of Northern Tennessee, Captain Johnson's Company, 12th Battalion, Company C., Georgia Light Artillery.

Gus died February 22, 1952, at General Hospital, in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota, at age 71. His body was interred February 27, 1952, Sunset Memorial Park, St. Anthony, Hennepin Co., Minnesota. He married Edith Maria Olson, June 5, 1920, at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Minneapolis, Hennepin Co., Minnesota. Edith was born May 15, 1890, in Mansgarden, Flo, Sweden. Edith was the daughter of Anders Johan Olausson and Alida Christina Andersson. Edith died January 31, 1976, Richfield, Hennepin Co., Minnesota, at age 85. At the time of her death, she was living in the Willows Nursing Home where she had moved from her daughter Anita's home in November of 1975. It is believed Augustus left Georgia around 1912, after the death of his mother. By 1913 he was living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he continued to work as a leathercutter and maker of horse collars. His reason for leaving Milwaukee is unknown; it may have been economic or he may have come to Minneapolis to make horse collars for the army and Fort Snelling. By 1919 he was living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In January of 1920, both he and Edith were living at the same boarding house on Riverside Avenue in Minneapolis; by June of that year they were married. | |
